Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation

We have worked with this ministry over the past several years to seek alternatives to the BC Treaty Process and have discussed a multitude of options, of which a form of ITA/Reconciliation Agreement has been discussed recently.

This has resulted in dialogue on Parcel 27 of Lot 60 lands out in Lake Cowichan, which is adjacent to Lake Cowichan First Nation’s reserve lands. There has been a notice of intent placed over these lands as well and discussions are also in the works for a communal forest opportunity on lands on the Bald Mountain Peninsula.

Reconciliation Initiatives with the provincial government are in progress at this time.
